What is the wrath of God and why 1. We are made in God’s image, therefore He is somewhat like us a. God has and experiences emotions b. When we sin, we hurt Him emotionally c. Our rebelling against God also makes Him angry -But He deals with His anger and emotions righteously (always) d. Thank God Jesus atoned for and redeemed us from our hurting God -He now sees Believers IN Christ, and therefore sinless and IN the righteousness of Christ (Ro. 5:17) e. Our response for our sin should be: -Oh God I am so sorry for hurting You -Oh God thank you for Jesus taking our wrath from you for our sin f. God forgives us through Christ g. God expects us to forgive others (and ourselves) too (Eph. 4:26-27, -WARNING Mt. 18:21-35 2. Until now we have not talked about God’s wrath a. Because we have concentrated on correcting low self esteem b. Satan tries hard to accuse and condemn us c. to keep us from walking in our Son-ship, and authority which defeats satan. 3. Wrath of God is only on those who choose not to Believe and Receive Jesus as Savior and Lord. (Romans 1:18, 2:4-10) a. When we John 1:12 we are saved from the wrath of God, never again to be under His wrath (John 3:36, Romans 5:9, 1 Thes. 5:9, b. Believers are free from shame, condemnation, and guilt IN CHRIST c. Condemnation vs. conviction of the Holy Spirit (Ro. 8:1-2) d. Punishment (wrath) vs. discipline (Father’s love). 4. Our only fear in life should be reverent worshipful fear of God when we arrogantly rebel and walk away from Him. a. Even then He mercifully waits for us to come back b. But we will reap what we sow (Gal. 6:7-8) B. Jesus Christ’s Cross reconciliation for us to be Sons (includes men & women) & Bride of  Christ 1. God wants us confident of His unconditional love for us. -John 17:22-23 a. We are His sons and daughters with whom He is well PLEASED b. We do NOT have to earn this. It is by grace we are saved into this. - Ephesians 1:3-4, 5-6, 7-9 c. God does give additional rewards to those who earn them through Holy Spirit-led obedience (but that is another topic for later) -But God’s salvation and His love is a free gift to us by Christ’s Cross EX – England’s Prime Minister 8-year-old son CONFIDENT in his father’s love and care for him (“Dad my toy is broken and I need you to fix it”) d. Ephesians 2:1-10 2. Neil Anderson’s 3 Lists of Affirmations a. We are ACCEPTED by God in Christ -John 1:12 Believe and receive = Son-ship -Romans 5:1 Justified by faith = peace with God -Colossians 1:13-14 b. We are SECURE in Christ -Romans 8:35-39 Cannot be separated from God’s love -Romans 8:28 God works all things together for our good -1 John 5:18 Born of God and the evil one cannot touch us c. We are SIGNIFICANT in Christ -John 15:16 Chosen to bear significant fruit that will last -Acts 1:8 we are witnesses for Christ -2 Cor. 5:17-21 Ministers of Reconciliation for God -Eph 2:10 Chosen to accomplish God’s planned good works C. Joint Heirs with Jesus of all God owns 1. Comes by faith (working through love) a. Why don’t we receive promises? -James 4:1-8 b. Basically sin begins to blind our “faith eyes” = can’t connect with promises manifested. 2. Every Divine resource is available to us to accomplish His purposes a. Romans 15-17 God’s sons and heirs (for His purposes) b. Deut.:8:18 power to make wealth to establish God’s covenant on earth 3. Joint heirs for the purpose of: a. loving and enjoying God b. resourced so we can love other people c. co-reign in life with Jesus Christ -Romans 5:17b c. expand God’s Kingdom into all of creation -7 Societal Mountains -Gen. 1:26-28 God’s original mandate -Jesus’ Great Commission Mandates at end of 4 Gospels and Acts 1:8 (Mt. 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-20, etc.) Invitation: -If you want to live this out then stand and let’s ask the Holy Spirit’s help to live all this. -Also ask Him what part of this is He currently working on in you, -Ask Him what is your part in this (write it in your journal). -Respond in love be telling God you WILL work with Him.
