TCA-YWAM Austin DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING COURSE May 14, 2017 Topic: The Believer’s Authority In Christ +Name of Jesus (Compiled by Jon Dorris) (Permission granted for anyone to use freely) Intro -To date we have discussed foundational scriptures. -As DTC progresses we are applying them more and more Gen. 1:26-28 - God created mankind (first Adam and Eve) to co-reign over His Kingdom on the earth. Ps. 110:1-2 – After mankind abdicated their authority by allowing satan to tempt them and allow sin into the earth realm, they lost authority / dominion over God’s Kingdom in the earth realm. -HOWEVER, God executed His plan to retake the Kingdom from satan, through Jesus Christ’s finished work at the Cross = Blood Covenant with His people through Christ. -His plan called for Christ-redeemed mankind to work with the Holy Spirit to take back dominion over all creation, and re-establish God’s original Kingdom blueprint for the earth realm. Matthew 28:18-20 – Jesus Christ gives His Great Commission Mandate to His Believers on HOW to take back and re-establish His Kingdom into every segment of society (the 7-Societal Mountains). Points of His Mandate: -Go (locally and globally) and make Disciples -Baptize them in the NAME of God: -the Father, as Sons of God -Lord Jesus Christ, as Co-reigning Bride of Christ -Holy Spirit, to have God’s supernatural power living in and through us -To teach the nations (people groups) to observe (do) Jesus’ Kingdom commands -Jesus would be doing all this WITH US the entire time. A. The Believer’s Biblical Basis for using God’s Authority 1. John 1:12 – Must first believe AND receive Jesus Christ into our lives as Savior and Lord. a. Romans 8:15 Receive the Spirit of Adoption as Sons of God -Jesus lived out the example on earth how we are now to live -He was IN His Father by the Holy Spirit -We are baptized INTO His Name (Blood Covenant meaning) -We have all His rights and can use them by invoking His Name b. Romans 10:13 Whoever calls on the Name of Jesus will be SAVED- SOZOed (anything we need is in this Greek word for SAVED). 2. John 14:12-15, 14:20 a. We are in Jesus – therefore in His Name (Blood Covenant term) b. Greater works will we do c. Ask anything in His Name = done, BUT by faith rooted in love d. Root that activates this is God’s self-less LOVE in and through us -if we LOVE Him we will keep His commandments - 1 John 3:23 – His New Testament commands are: -Believe in the name of Jesus (He has all authority) -Love one another 3. Romans 5:17b We reign in life by abundance of God’s grace and free gift of righteousness 4. Luke 10:17-19 Jesus gives us authority a. demons are subject to us in Jesus’ Name (even before Jesus’ Cross) b. to tread on serpents and scorpions (the demons and evil spirits) c. over ALL the power of the enemy (the satan and his demonic hierarchy) d. nothing shall harm us EX. Rev. 12:11 Overcoming satan victoriously -through the Blood of Jesus -word of our testimony -denied self, picked up our cross and following Jesus B. Our Capabilities through God’s Authority Here are some of our main authority capabilities 1. Authority to pray and receive answers from Father God a. pray in people’s salvation -stop enemy from (2 Cor. 4:4) blinding people from Jesus’ Truth b. heal the sick c. pray in God’s Kingdom and plans for you and others d. to enforce God’s protection of our lives, family, etc. e. to claim see promises of God manifested 2. Luke 4:18 - Cast demons out to set people free. a. Mt. 12:28-29 Binding demonic strongmen holding people captive b. Stop Demonic harassment, oppression, depression, etc. c. Read *testimony of lady on page 235-236 of Kraft book -demons MUST obey our authority – persist in commanding EX. demon sitting on Stephen’s shoulder until cast out by Paul with huge angel c. Stop demonic temptation, thoughts, or dreams 3. Bind and Loose on behalf of God’s Kingdom and His purposes a. according to the promises, where applicable 4. Take authority over God’s creation to decree or command His Kingdom purposes in place on earth as it is in Heaven (where Kingdom blueprint is perfect). -Should NOT be commanding human beings who have freewill, UNLESS the person is trying to harm you, etc. EX. If someone is trying to rob, rape, kill you, then command them, in the Name of Jesus Christ to stop, etc. BELIEVE and it will work (Next week’s DTC is on HOW TO HAVE PREVAILING FAITH vs doubt and unbelief) -But trying to manipulate people to do your selfish desires is WITCHCRAFT -Gen. 1:26-28 We can command the animals and the creation realms IF we are doing Holy Spirit led Biblical Kingdom purposes. EX. Russia’s Chernoble nuclear reactor explosion radiation that killed all the vegetation was prayed over and now it is nice and green and growing. EX. We have commanded physical scorpions and poisonous spiders to leave our property and never come back and THEY DID! EX. We have bound or forbid damaging weather so it could not damage us or our property EX. Jeffrey stopped the rain on him 5. Manifesting Kingdom in the 7 Societal Mountains. a. Romans 14:17 – Kingdom defined: Righteousness, Peace, & Joy in HS. b. Take ground from enemy; Keep it; Increase it; Pass it to next generation. 6. Break power and effects of negative words spoken against you. -EX. cleaned trauma off car accident areas on roads so demons lose their ground to cause more accident there. 7. Break ungodly soul-ties with people. 8. To bless people, things, cities, nations, etc. (Num. 6:23-27) -especially with peace (well-being in every area of life) C. Applying and Activating His Authority 1. First we must be IN Jesus (Baptized into His Name) a. to carry out God the Father’s will that He reveals to us 2. Second we must be empowered by Baptized into Holy Spirit (Mt. 28:18-20) a. Supernatural power as Jesus had on earth as a man with Holy Spirit (b. after Jesus’ resurrection and ascension He re-assumed His Deity) 3. John 5:19-20 – We should be trying to live out doing only what God wants a. should not abuse our authority in Christ with selfish desires b. Let Jesus be Lord (heart attitude that God walks out in and through you) c. Keep doors shut to the enemy in your lives by: -Refusing to enter into sin -Relinquishing your authority to entering into things not of God. -Cults, gangs, playing demonic video games, etc. d. John 14:30 Jesus said satan has nothing in Me. 4. 1 Cor. 12:10 & others: Commit all things into God’s Lordship Hands and then Ask God for Holy Spirit’s discernment what is happening a. Sources of circumstances -God’s (or His assigned angels) are manifesting something -Therefore we should submit to God. -Ask God what is our part in it and do it. -Our sowing and reaping (good or bad) -If bad sowing and reaping then repent and appropriate Jesus’ Blood Covenant provisions -If satan (or humans being used of him) -bind the demonic in Jesus’ Name -destroy the demonic’s & evil human’s works with our decrees in Jesus’ Name -cast demons out (to where Jesus sends them) in Jesus’ Name 5. Romans 10:9-10 How we Activate or use His Authority a. VERY SIMPLE: Believe in our heart, and b. Confess, decree, or proclaim with our mouth (out loud) -John 14:14 ask, decree, demand (if dealing with demonic realm) in Jesus’ Name EX. -this is like a policeman who’s badge says he has authority but he may have to back it up with his gun -Job 22:28 Decree something to be established -Mt. 16:19 Bind and loose according to Holy Spirit led Kingdom purposes c. Rebuke the demon(s) and cast it out by Holy Spirit’s leading -May have to get person to close open doors first -Confessing, repenting of sin and appropriating Jesus Blood Covenant finished work at Cross -Authority to ask Holy Spirit to fill and take over those vacant places demons were cast out. 6. Daily warfare maintenance by taking authority over enemy: a. Bind Satan and demonic away from every area of our lives. b. Luke 10:19 Trample on the works of the enemy and claim protection. c. Break the power/cancel/condemn ungodly words, etc spoken or arrayed against you and your family. (Isaiah 54:7) d. Forbid (bind) things that are not God’s will from happening. e. Claim Jesus’ Blood Covenant fullness over you and everything about you. f. Ask God to live out His Kingdom through you. (UNTIL Smith Wigglesworth faith level: “Oh its just you satan” and went back to sleep without doing anything.) Invitation: Let’s pray together for 1. God to deepen faith for these truths, 2. For Him to live His Love through us 3. For the Holy Spirit to guide us into operating these principles
