TCA-YWAM Austin     February 25, 2018 Topic: Authentic Life-Giving Community Sermon Assignment – Listen for and write 3 things that you can give to creating LIFE-GIVING FELLOWSHIP with one another – We will break up in small groups and share 1John 1:3 what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. Outside of our Life in Christ, fellowship with each other is the most precious and cherished thing we have with each other. It is so LIFE-Producing What every human craves So let’s focus on what it is AND be proactive to live it. Let’s look at 6 Traits of Authentic Christian Community Jesus’ original disciples found these truths and began living them. Acts 2:42-47 42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. 44 And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; 45 and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. 46 Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. 1. The Disciples had a common cause of being devoted to Jesus and His Kingdom.         -Their glue           -Fellowship was in everything they did           -They learned about Jesus TOGETHER           -They ate meals TOGETHER           -They prayed TOGETHER 2. The Disciples expected God’s supernatural when they were TOGETHER           -Matthew 18:20 For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.” -The Disciples found out that when they focused on Jesus, supernatural stuff started happening.         -When they honored Jesus, He responded with signs and wonders following.         -Peter’s shadow was healing people – they EXPECTED healing. 3. The Disciples had a strong commitment to one another.           -They were loyal to each other           -They could depend on each other           -They had mutual respect for each other           -They would make unity with one another work 4. The Disciples lived out generosity in meeting each other’s needs.           D-Righteousness = righteous loving generosity           -People knew there IS A GOD because of the love and generosity the Disciples had for each other (and others) -Spring Break we are going to serve Merisha’s base and WIDOW 5. The Disciples laughed and had fun TOGETHER           -Gladness and joy was unstoppable in them (even in bad circumstances)           -They WORKED HARD and PLAYED HARD.           -They knew gladness was a God-given gift – they enjoyed it 6. The Disciples had a sense of SHARED DESTINY TOGETHER           -They knew their sins were forgiven and now had God living in them           -Everywhere they went the atmosphere changed because they carried the King and His kingdom on the inside of them.           -Whole cities were transformed because THEY KNEW THIS FACT           -They had FAITH that nothing can stay the same when Jesus is there with them. 6 Things we can DO to create Life-Giving Fellowship 1. Be INTENTIONAL        -Ask each other “How has your past week been”        -Honestly care 2. Be HOSPITABLE        -When you come to TCA put your phones away and TALK TO EACH OTHER 3. Be AVAILABLE to each other.        -Let’s all make a pack to each other to eat our lunch in this room        -Really find out what each other likes, dreams of, is excited about, AND find out the things hurting each other AND try to help 4. Be a good LISTENER and EMPATHIZE with how each other feels 5. Be QUICK TO FORGIVE        -Everyone makes mistakes        -So love by forgiving unconditionally 6. Be VULNERABLE        -Share your struggles and hurts        -Make sure to jump in and pray for each other. EXPECT GOD TO SHOW UP -You will be amazed at how these truths will transform our Fellowship. -Break up in small groups and each share the 3 things you can give to each other to create LIFE-GIVING FELLOWSHIP in our TCA Community. THEN LEADER PRAY FOR THESE! -Remember be available to shoot quick prayers for each other during lunch, etc.
