TCA-YWAM Austin     March 25, 2018 Topic: Living from a Heart fully alive! (Compiled by Jon Dorris) (Permission granted for anyone to use freely) (Goal is for God to confirm Gospel with changed hearts for Christ, that will live out this message as a lifestyle.) Main Point: When we choose God’s way of giving our lives away for Jesus and His mission, then we truly find abundant life. Sermon assignment: (write on the paper provided) 1. Let’s all ask God to show us at least one person in our lives that we can invest Jesus’ love in. 2. In this sermon message, listen for at least 1 key thing you can do to help this person God brought to your mind to love. 3. Write who I will be accountable to tell that I carried through and actually did this. Ex. (pic Cambodia kids) – Calli and her team spent 2 months living in poverty Cambodia conditions to keep these kids from being sex trafficked. Then raised funds so mom could stay with them ongoing. (pic of Calli and I) Matthew 16:25  For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. -Jesus knows He is about to go to the Cross and says: John 12:24-26 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world (in other words gives his life away in loving ways to serve others) will keep it to life eternal. If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him. -God greatly rewards us for this lifestyle but that is not WHY we do it. -We do it because we Believe Jesus and Love Him by obeying His teachings. Q – What is the lost world’s message?         -Get all you can get for yourself – don’t worry about others. -Listen again to Jesus speaking about His Kingdom ways: -Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.” -Doesn’t this sound like God’s “Golden Rule”? -Luke 6:31 Treat others the same way you want them to treat you. -Matthew 7:12 “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.         -Jesus means in other words – this is what the Law and the Prophets are all about. -EX. Calli came back from YWAM and started Redeemed Ministries Austin.           -She gave up her life 2 weeks on (and 2 weeks off) to live with rescued trafficked sex survivors, throughout the year.           -During the 1 year long safe house program for the ladies. -Nicole’s story           -Calli loved on her at safe house           -Calli helped her get job and apartment to live on her own           -Calli befriended her in Calli’s personal life           -Tanya and I had her live with us for 3 months after safe house.                    -We became her spiritual parents                    -She nicknamed me Peige for PJ (Papa Jon)           -Today, years later, Nicole is living a successful, free, and fulfilling life.           -She still comes to our family birthday parties -Calli laid down her life for Nicole. = Nicole enjoying Jesus and abundant life! -Listen to what God calls us to do for others -Isaiah 58:6-7 “Is this not the fast which I choose, To loosen the bonds of wickedness, (Ex. trafficked victims, To undo the bands of the yoke, (Ex. Instead of being angry at your family member, you forgive them and pray for them) And to let the oppressed go free (Ex. Tell bully at school to stop picking on ____________) And break every yoke? (Ex. We are helping Nepal break off poverty by teaching them how to start small businesses.) 7 “Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry (Ex. Carry a bag of food in car to give to homeless) And bring the homeless poor into the house; (Ex. Not easy but you can do it – Tanya and Our Family has done this a few times.) When you see the naked, to cover him; (Ex. forgive people – love covers a multitude of sin, versus condemning them for their sin) And not to hide yourself from your own flesh? (Ex. Help your family member even if they treat you badly.) -Listen to it another way -Isaiah 61:1-3 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners; To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified. Q – Can you do some of this for others? EX. How about at school you see a lonely person eating lunch alone. Q – Could you go eat lunch with that person and make friends? Q – Could you invite the person to eat with you and your friends? Q – Could you invite that person to hang out with you and your friends? = possibly saving a lonely person from suicide. Q – Seriously, can you do this for lonely people? Yes or no? Q – What are some other simple ways that you could make a profound loving impact on someone in your life? I need 3 of you to give me EX. -Listen to God’s rewards to you if you choose to live this lifestyle, like Jesus did. -Isaiah 58:8-12 (right after what we read above in vs 6-7) “Then your light will break out like the dawn, And your recovery will speedily spring forth; And your righteousness will go before you; The glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. 9 “Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; You will cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you remove the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness, 10 And if you give yourself to the hungry And satisfy the desire of the afflicted, Then your light will rise in darkness And your gloom will become like midday. 11 “And the Lord will continually guide you, And satisfy your desire in scorched places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail. 12 “Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up the age-old foundations; And you will be called the repairer of the breach, The restorer of the streets in which to dwell. These were Jesus’ main mission actions (Luke 4:18-19) Jesus and Zaccheus Luke 19:1-10 Listen to this story He entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 And there was a man called by the name of Zaccheus; he was a chief tax collector and he was rich. 3 Zaccheus was trying to see who Jesus was, and was unable because of the crowd, for he was small in stature. 4 So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way. 5 When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” 6 And he hurried and came down and received Him gladly. 7 When they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” 8 Zaccheus stopped and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will give back four times as much.” 9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” EX. Charles L. story -It does not have to be this involved. -What are the simple things you can do in your daily life?           -Let’s brainstorm-Give me 3 simple things? Conclusion (before small groups) -Let’s pray and ask God to help us to adopt this lifestyle. Holy Spirit empowers us. -Let’s ask God to put people on our heart and ideas of acts of kindness we can do for them Small Group Discussion 1. Who is the 1 person in your life God showed you today that you can invest something simple in them that will be a great blessing to them? 2. What is at least 1 key thing from this message you can do to bless others in your daily life?
